7 Day Joy Challenge
Sustained behavior change is more about new reminders rather than new information. So here’s a reminder: If you want to change your life, you’ll need to change some things about your life. In the words of Elvis: “A little less talk and a lot more action.”
This holds true when it comes to joy: We can’t experience the joy God promises if we don’t proactively step into His Truth and Love and start thinking and acting in accordance with it.
So here’s my 7-day reminder challenge to you: Read Matthew 5-6 and John 14-17.
It’s that simple. Matthew 5-6 contains Jesus’ “Doing Instructions.” John 14-17 contains Jesus’ “Being Instructions.” (My book describes what the Being and Doing means.)
If you’re reading this on Facebook, DO NOT “Like” this post unless you are committed to reading these two sections of scripture by next Sunday. “Liking” this post is a public declaration that you are going to actually do it. You’re on the honor system, folks.
3 tips before you go:
1. For now, take 25-30 minutes and read the sections like a novel and don’t get tripped up on things that confuse you or you doubt. We’ll work through confusions and doubt next week.
2. If you have more time and interest after the initial reading, then feel free to dig into more study. www.Biblegateway.org has great resources.
3. If you don’t have a bible, Bible Gateway has several online versions. I recommend ESV, NIV, or NLT versions for more modern-day language.
